We remember the past for the sake of repair in the present and as a spell for future flourishing.

Alongside a wider team of beloveds, collaborators, and partners, we are offering seasonal intensives, workshops, and day-long classes. These short-form experiences are designed to support connection to the cycle of the year: What can ancestral calendars, seasonal festivals, and iterative ritual practices teach us? How can we navigate our contemporary lives with temporal guidance and grounding?

Guiding our movement through the calendar is our ongoing exploration of the work of de-assimilation, cultural healing, and anti-racist praxis. As we turn from season to season, following the cycles of the Moon and calendars of the Sun, we follow the prayer of Re-Calling Our Ancestors: We remember the past for the sake of repair in the present and as a spell for future flourishing.

  • Entering & Engaging the Spiral of Re-Calling Our Ancestors

    October 16th, 2024 12:30-2:30 PM EST

Join us for an introduction to the Spiral of Re-Calling Our Ancestors! Together we will orient ourselves to the cycles of healing and repair that guide our work.

What is Re-Calling Our Ancestors? Re-Calling our Ancestors is a community exploration and ritual inquiry into ancestral recovery, truth-telling, and repair. We offer educational and healing space for committed white, white-passing, and white-assimilated anti-racists to deepen their practice of ancestral connection. In this way, we support each other to do deep work around the spiritual and cultural loss preventing us from being our most effective as co-liberators in movements for racial and economic justice. Our work is rooted in somatic practice, ritual & altar work, earth intimacy, study, and action

What is the Spiral? Re-Calling Our Ancestors follows a curricular and ritual framework oriented around a Spiral Each station of this Spiral addresses a different component of the work of ancestral re-connection. Together they comprise a comprehensive approach to the emotional, intellectual, somatic, magical, intergenerational, and political experience of de-assimilation. The Spiral offers an orientation to the complexity of de-assimilation. Relating to our inheritance and the ongoing legacy of whiteness necessitates iterative cycles - not a singular nor linear process. To recall our ancestors is to spiral – to tend transformation and entertain futures through consistent, exploratory, deepening cycles of engagement.

Why Re-Calling Our Ancestors? When we as white anti-racists strengthen our own resilience and relationships—individually and collectively—through ancestral practices and cultural reclamation, we have far more to offer multi-racial movements for justice. We believe in building collective capacity to tend to the spiritual and cultural loss that prevents us from being co-liberators in movements for racial and economic justice. Through ancestral reconnection, embodied practice, and shared study we are making transformative action toward de-assimilation and reparations.
